Vanessa Rider

Vanessa Rider has extensive work experience in the field of Human Resources and People & Culture. Vanessa is currently serving as the Executive Director of People & Culture at Canteen Australia since May 2023. Before that, they worked at The Smith Family as the National Manager of Human Resources from August 2018 to April 2023. Vanessa also held the position of Acting Head of People and Culture at The Smith Family from March 2022 to May 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Camp Quality as the General Manager of People & Culture from June 2015 to June 2018. Vanessa also served as a People & Culture Senior Advisor at Camp Quality from October 2011 to June 2015.

Vanessa's earlier experience includes working as an Executive Trainer, Coach, and L&D Consultant at Hostec International from August 2009 to April 2011. Vanessa also worked at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts as the Director of Human Resources from November 2007 to March 2009, and as a Training Manager from November 2004 to October 2007.

Before that, Vanessa worked at Hyatt Hotels Corporation as an Assistant Manager of Human Resources from December 2002 to October 2004. Prior to that, they worked as a Training Specialist at Hyatt from October 2000 to November 2002.

Vanessa began their career at Mirvac as the Director of Food and Beverage from February 1998 to August 2000. Vanessa's earliest roles include working as a Restaurant Manager at Marriott International and as a Bar Manager at Regent Hotels & Resorts.

Vanessa Rider's education history includes obtaining a Diploma in Positive Psychology and Wellbeing from Langley Group Institute in 2016. In 2015, they also completed training as a Strengths Profiler Accredited Facilitator at Langley Group and participated in the Search Inside Yourself program at the Search Inside Yourself Institute, specializing in neuro-science. Furthermore, they attended the Mindful Leadership Global Forum at the Search Inside Yourself Institute in 2014. Prior to that, Vanessa became an Accredited Facilitator for TAA Certificate IV (Training & Assessment) at Hostec International in 2009. In 1993, they received an Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management from TAFE NSW, and earlier, they attended Pymble Ladies' College from 1977 to 1990. Additionally, Vanessa obtained certifications as a Laughter Yoga Accredited Facilitator from Laughter Yoga Australia in 2013, as a Neuro-Linguistic Programming practitioner from Beyond NLP in 2011, as an Accredited 'FISH' Facilitator from Mind Resources, and as a DISC Facilitator from Thomas International in 2007.
