Brian McDonald has extensive experience in corporate communications, marketing, and public relations. Brian is currently the Director of Corporate Communications & Public Relations at Capital Blue Cross, where they oversee internal and external communications and ensures brand-aligned messaging for members and stakeholders. Prior to this role, they served as the Director of Market Strategy at Capital Blue Cross, leading a team in launching campaigns and developing communication strategies to empower customers and stakeholders in making informed healthcare decisions. Brian has also held roles at Capital Blue Cross as a Manager of Customer Marketing and a Project Manager of Communications, where they focused on driving marketing strategies and enhancing customer engagement. Before joining Capital Blue Cross, Brian worked as a Senior Communications Specialist at Capital Blue Cross, where they were responsible for editing member and group newsletters, leading projects for consumer-centric content, and creating speeches and letters for senior officials. Prior to their time at Capital Blue Cross, Brian was the Marketing Manager at Builders Benefits, Inc, where they spearheaded marketing and communications efforts for the agency. Brian also has experience in the public sector, having worked as a Deputy Press Secretary at both the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Pennsylvania Department of State. In these roles, Brian led public relations efforts, managed communications outreach plans, and built relationships with media outlets.
Brian McDonald received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Penn State University in 2001. Brian went on to pursue a Masters of Science degree in Communication Studies from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, which they completed in 2016. Additionally, Brian has obtained a Pennsylvania Health and Life Producers License from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
