Arunava Chakraborty is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the agribusiness sector. Currently serving as the Business Head for the UPL Sub Region encompassing Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, alongside the role of Country Head for Myanmar and Bangladesh since September 2020, Arunava has demonstrated leadership in driving business growth. Previously, as the Chief Operating Officer for Capital Diamond Star Group (CDSG), Arunava has been instrumental in strategic planning, customer relationship management, and financial operations within the agribusiness domain. With a background at Monsanto Company as General Manager for Customer Affairs and Regional Sales Manager, Arunava has developed significant expertise in stakeholder engagement and market development. Educational qualifications include a Six Sigma Green Belt from KPMG and a Senior Management Program from the Indian Institute of Management (Calcutta).

Started in the 1960 as a small trading company, CDSG has since grown into one of the most respected and prominent conglomerates in Myanmar, with 15 operating entities across the following key sectors: Food, Retail, Real Estate, Healthcare, Financial Services, Automotive Distribution and Insurance. Food, being the Group’s initial business, has been developed into an integrated end-to-end value chain. The Group has successfully built up a strong, extensive and multi-channel nation-wide distribution network covering more than 90% of the country. In 2008, CDSG entered into the retail market by opening the Capital Hypermarket, followed by a chain of convenience stores called G&G (grab& go). With the launch in 2013 of its flagship Capital City mixed-use development in Yangon, CDSG is fast gaining recognition as a major real estate developer as well. Currently, the company has more than 7,800 people.
