Jeff Vaasjo has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Jeff began their career at West Edmonton Mall Property Inc. as a Lifeguard from 2003 to 2005, then took on the role of Aquatics Supervisor from 2005 to 2011. Jeff then joined the City of Edmonton as a Human Resources Intern from 2009 to 2011. Jeff subsequently joined Capital Power Corporation, where they held multiple positions. Jeff started as a Human Resources Coordinator from January 2011 to October 2011, then became a Human Resources Business Partner from October 2011 to October 2016. Jeff then served as Senior Manager of Shared Services from November 2016 to November 2017. After that, Jeff took on the role of Senior Manager of Human Resources Business Partners & Labour Relations from October 2017 to April 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Employee Relations at Capital Power Corporation, starting from May 2022.
Jeff Vaasjo began their education at Concordia University of Edmonton, where they obtained a Bachelor of Management degree with a concentration in Human Resources. Jeff completed this program from 2004 to 2008. In addition to their degree, Jeff has also pursued various certifications over the years. These include a Labour Relations Certificate from Queen's University IRC, obtained in March 2019, as well as a SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification from SHRM, also obtained in March 2019. Prior to these, Jeff achieved a Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) certification from WorldatWork in May 2013, and a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification from the same institution in March 2013. Additionally, Jeff obtained a Certificate in Interpersonal Conflict Resolution from the Alberta Arbitration & Mediation Society in an unknown month of 2010. Jeff also earned the Chartered Professional Human Resources (CPHR) designation from CPHR Alberta in November 2009.
