Kory Koziar

Manager, Industrial Cybersecurity & Networks at Capital Power

Kory Koziar has several years of experience in various roles related to industrial cybersecurity, systems integration, and industrial controls. Starting in 2000, they worked as an Installer at STONETILE (Canada) Ltd. In 2001, they joined BP Automation as a Senior Electrical Engineer, where they worked until 2008. During this time, they gained expertise in industrial controls. From 2008 to 2018, they worked at Capital Power Corporation as a Sr. Manager, Industrial Controls, where they continued to develop their skills in this field. In 2018, they joined Cybertech Automation as a Senior Systems Integrator, where they worked until 2022. Currently, they are employed at Capital Power as a Manager, Industrial Cybersecurity & Networks.

Kory Koziar's education history includes completing a Master of Science (MS) degree in Information Security Engineering from the SANS Technology Institute between 2017 and 2022. Prior to that, Kory earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta, attending from 1995 to 1999. Before entering the University of Alberta, Kory obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnic, studying between 1994 and 1995. Kory also completed high school at Grande Prairie Composite High School from 1990 to 1993, obtaining a High School degree.

In addition to their formal education, Kory has obtained various certifications. Some of these certifications include the GIAC Critical Infrastructure Protection (GCIP), GIAC Defensible Security Architecture (GDSA), GIAC Response and Industrial Defense (GRID), GIAC Critical Controls Certification (GCCC), GIAC Certified Project Manager (GCPM), GIAC Strategic Planning, Policy, and Leadership (GSTRT), GIAC Certified Enterprise Defender (GCED), GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), GIAC Advisory Board, GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP), P.Eng (Professional Engineer) from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), and PE (Professional Engineer) from the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
