Christian Shirabad, P.Eng., has a strong background in electrical engineering with a focus on generators and high voltage equipment. Christian has experience in the power industry, having worked at companies such as Atura Power and MEG Energy Corp.
At Atura Power, Christian served as an Electrical Engineer, responsible for generators, high voltage equipment, and power system modeling and studies. Christian played a key role in the acquisition and integration of Atura Power and developed Equipment Lifecycle Plans to optimize equipment integrity and identify required corrective actions. Christian also supported project design and execution as a lead electrical engineer.
During their time at MEG Energy Corp., Christian held multiple roles. As a P.Eng, Electrical Engineer, they served as the Phase 2B Turnaround Electrical Engineering Lead, determining scope and testing requirements for electrical distribution equipment. Christian also acted as the Operation's Projects Electrical Engineering Lead, managing various projects for plant debottlenecking and efficiency improvements.
Additionally, Christian completed the EIT Rotation Program at MEG Energy Corp., where they gained experience in operations electrical engineering, power system studies, and electrical safety. Christian also completed a secondment to ProTrace Engineering as an Electrical EIT, where they worked on relay and protective device settings for a SAGD pilot project.
Christian began their career at MEG Energy Corp. as an Electrical Engineering Intern before transitioning to a role as an Electrical Engineering Summer Student.
Currently, Christian is employed as a Senior Specialist Engineer, Generators at Capital Power, where they bring their expertise in generators to the company.
Christian Shirabad, P.Eng. completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Calgary from 2009 to 2014.
