Randy Lucas

Randy Lucas has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and organizations. Randy is currently serving as a Board Member at the Economic Society of Northern Alberta. In 2022, they joined Capital Power as a Director of Regulatory Compliance.

From 2017 to 2022, Randy worked at the Alberta Utilities Commission in various roles. Randy served as a Senior Regulatory Analyst, specializing in Electric and Gas Distribution Rates. Randy also held the position of a Senior Regulatory Analyst, focusing on Technology & Innovation from 2019 to 2020.

In 2017, Randy worked at the Government of Alberta as the Manager of Strategy and Coordination in the Department of Economic Development and Trade. Prior to that, they held managerial positions at the Department of Energy, Government of Alberta. From 2015 to 2017, they were the Manager of Royalty Review Coordination & Implementation. Randy also served as the Manager of Royalty and Tenure Policy from 2014 to 2015, and as a Senior Analyst in Electricity and Sustainable Energy from 2012 to 2014.

Before their government roles, Randy worked as a Resource Economist at the Pembina Institute in 2011. In 2010, they were a Junior Economist at Natural Resources Canada | Ressources naturelles Canada. Randy started their professional career as an intern in the Office of Policy & Analysis at the Smithsonian Institution in 2008.

Randy Lucas has a strong educational background in the field of Economics. Randy completed their Bachelor of Arts in Economics (Honours) from the University of Alberta, where they studied from 2002 to 2008. Following this, Randy pursued further education and attained a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Victoria, studying from 2008 to 2010. In 2019, they enrolled at Mount Royal University and obtained a Leadership Development Extension Certificate, focusing on business and commerce studies.
