Steven is a Principle Associate and joined the housing management team in 2021, bringing with him a wealth of experience of housing management and asset management gained acting for registered providers as well as private landlords and tenants. He has litigated matters in the County Court, High Court, Court of Appeal, and various tribunals such as the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber – Residential Property.
Steven provides advice and representation on all aspects of housing management and asset management such as anti-social behaviour (including applications for injunctive relief and other emergency remedies), complex possession cases (often involving substance abuse or mental health issues), disrepair, arrears of rent and other breaches of tenancy, squatters and trespassers, unlawful eviction, homelessness and allocations, leasehold enfranchisement, rights of first refusal, right to manage claims, lease and service charge issues including section 20 consultation and forfeiture, boundary disputes, claims related to breach of covenant, easements and rights of way, public law challenges, drafting tenancy agreements, and governance issues such as policy and procedures and complaints. Steven provides training for clients and organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Housing.
Steven is a qualified running coach and guide runner for the visually impaired. He is also the secretary of his village cricket team. He has previously been a voluntary board member of a registered provider.
Steven has acted for clients in a number of reported cases including the landmark Court of Appeal case on tenancy deposits, Superstrike Ltd . Rodrigues.
