The Role:

Senior Accountant

Captivate’s team is looking for a Senior Accountant to assist the Controller, VP Finance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has prior experience on an accounting team and is ready to take the next step and take on a variety of responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong affinity for systems and data utilizing high level Excel skills to efficiently contribute to the success of the finance team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for key areas of the month-end and year-end close.
  • Advertising Sales and Real Estate Billing review
  • Manage prepaid expenses and related reconciliations, including corporate card administration
  • Disbursements oversight including but not limited to AP, commissions, revenue share, and bonuses
  • Prepare and post certain general ledger activity and journal entries
  • Assist with working with external tax preparers for the filing and payments of monthly sales and use taxes and annual property taxes. Experience working with Canadian HST/GST/QST filing is preferred, but not required.
  • Yearly processing of 1099 forms
  • Ensure that all financial and business processes are in compliance with policies and procedures
  • Process expense reports
  • Ad-hoc support and analysis

What You Bring:

  • 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience; in a media, tech or software company preferred
  • Public accounting experience a plus!
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with NetSuite preferred, Concur experience is nice to have, but any expense reimbursement solution is helpful
  • Proven ability to work with Excel at a high-level
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills with thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting principles and internal controls
  • Ability to proactively identify and propose solutions to solve problems
  • Ability to work both independently and part of a team to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Great organizational skills
  • Dependable and ethical work ethic

 Where You'll Be:

  • You will be working out of our NYC office, conveniently located in Midtown Manhattan.
  • Captivate has a strong office culture and has returned to work in-person Tuesdays to Thursdays, with the option to work remote on Mondays and Fridays for now.
