Rob Spencer

Vice President, Research And Development at Cara Therapeutics

Rob Spencer has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a particular focus on research and development. Rob started their career in 2000 at Merck Research Laboratories, where they served as a Program/Group Leader for six years. In 2006, Rob joined Cara Therapeutics, initially as the Director of Preclinical Development before being promoted to Senior Director and eventually Vice President of Research and Development in 2019.

Rob Spencer completed their Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biophysics at UC Irvine from 1990 to 1995. Following that, they pursued a postdoctoral degree in X-ray Crystallography of Ion Channels at Caltech from 1995 to 2000.
