Steve Bockhold has a diverse work experience in the field of chemistry and education. Steve started their career as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Missouri in 2001, teaching General Chemistry Lab and recitation for 2-3 sections per semester. Steve continued their teaching role as an Adjunct Instructor at Westminster College in 2004.

In 2005, Bockhold became a Lab Instructor at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where they taught Physical Chemistry Lab. Steve also served as the Head Graduate Teaching Assistant for General Chemistry III, teaching one lab section and acting as a guest lecturer. In addition, they captured, rendered, and uploaded lecture videos for web streaming and podcasts.

In 2006, Bockhold became a Course Instructor at the University of Missouri, teaching Chemistry 1100 aimed at non-chemistry majors. Steve continued their role as a Lab Instructor at the University of Missouri-Columbia, teaching various experiments in a single section.

From 2007 to 2013, Bockhold worked as a Chemistry/Physics Teacher at Visitation Academy, providing instruction in these subjects.

In 2009, they served as a Summer Faculty at Washington University in St. Louis.

From 2010 to 2013, Bockhold worked as an Adjunct Chemistry Faculty at Maryville University, teaching Chem 101 as part of the Weekend and Evening College. Steve also served as a Lab Instructor for Chem 103.

In 2013, Bockhold joined Carboline as a Senior Coating Scientist. Steve was later promoted to Lab Manager in the Inorganic Fireproofing department and is currently serving in the role. In July 2022, they took on the additional responsibility of being the Technical Director of Innovation at the company.

Steve Bockhold began their education in 1995 at the College of the Ozarks, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Steve completed this program in 2001. Following their undergraduate studies, they enrolled at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2001 and earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a specialization in Inorganic and Coordination Networks in 2008.
