Nikolaj Baer

Nikolaj Baer has extensive experience in software engineering and technology. Nikolaj is currently working as a Staff Software Engineer at Carbon since October 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Open San Diego as a Brigade Co-Captain, leading the development and implementation of MealsCount, a tool aimed at maximizing reimbursement for school districts from the USDA Community Eligibility Provision. Nikolaj also collaborated with partner organizations and participated in webinars to advance the program. Before that, Nikolaj worked as the Director of Technology at Cuker Agency from September 2007 to October 2022. In this role, they oversaw technology-related aspects of the agency's operations. Nikolaj also worked at Cuker Design as a Senior Programmer from November 2006 to September 2007, where they constructed websites and developed web applications using Django. Prior to that, Nikolaj worked at ReQuest Inc as a Software Engineer, developing software for Linux media appliances. Nikolaj worked with languages such as C++, Java, and Python, and also performed Linux system scripting and maintained a web service. Nikolaj began their career at CMC-Kuhnke as a Software Engineer, where they developed a software application in C# .NET for collecting and displaying quality control data from gauges used in metal packaging manufacturing.

Nikolaj Baer received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where they studied from 1998 to 2003.
