Co-Founder & CEO at CarbonGraph

Sam Anderson is currently the Co-Founder & CEO of CarbonGraph, a platform that helps companies calculate and share the carbon footprint of their products or services. Their goal is to create a sustainable world with global carbon neutrality by 2050.

Prior to that, Sam worked at De Beers Group as an Energy & Carbon Coordinator, where they worked on technology projects to achieve carbon neutrality at the Gahcho Kué mine by 2030. They also supported Anglo American's global goal of carbon neutrality by 2040 through concept studies on low-carbon fuels, strategic planning for mine decarbonization projects, and detailed engineering on a solar farm installation.

Before joining De Beers Group, Sam worked at Hatch as an EIT - Technologies, focusing on mining and metals. In this role, they were responsible for various projects, including designing and installing refractory cooling elements, developing process design basis for electric furnaces, and overseeing integrity management programs for different types of smelters worldwide. They also led risk analysis workshops for smelter management teams to make major capital project decisions.

Sam's earlier work experience includes being the Managing Director of the Student Life Centre at Alma Mater Society of Queen's University, where they oversaw facility operations and managed a team and budget. They also worked as a Student Field Engineer at Encana Corporation, gaining experience in process engineering and field testing in gasfields. Additionally, Sam worked as a Molecular Photonics Student researcher at the National Research Council Canada.

Sam Anderson completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Mathematics and Engineering from Queen's University from 2013 to 2017. Subsequently, from 2021 to 2024, Sam pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Data Science Engineering at UCLA. In addition to their formal education, Sam obtained several certifications, including Positive Space - LGBTQ Awareness and Support from the Engineering Society of Queen's University in August 2014, Working at Heights certification from the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development in February 2020, WHMIS certification from NORCAT in February 2020, Confined Space Entry Level I & II certification from AIP Inc in May 2015, Defensive Driving & Energy Sector Driving Improvement (Off-road) certification from Fleet Safety International "A" Driving School in May 2015, H2S Alive certification from Enform in May 2015, Standard First Aid & CPR C with BC Workplace Emergency First Aid certification from the Canadian Red Cross in May 2015, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification from SAIT Polytechnic in May 2015.
