Chantal Kerssens

Chantal Kerssens has over 19 years of experience in clinical and digital health research, product development, research and innovation, and teaching. In 2021, they began working as the Clinical & Digital Health Research Lead at care.coach. In this role, they are responsible for acquiring new research funding, bringing home the success of existing awards, and advancing the science of conversational agents and relationships. From 2015 to 2021, they were the Founder and Principal at eyiapp, LLC, where they developed new health care technology products and services, delivered multi-million dollar R&D plans, and worked on digital therapeutic/biomarker development. In 2019, they were the Executive Director and Senior Research Scientist at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they were responsible for leading and implementing a strategic plan to merge organizational units. From 2010 to 2015, they were the Principal Investigator Fast-Track SBIR from National Institutes of Health at SimpleC, LLC, where they developed, won, and led major NIH grant funding. Chantal was also the VP of Research & Clinical Innovation and Director of Research at SimpleC, LLC. From 2002 to 2003, they were an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Instructor at Emory University School of Medicine, where they conducted randomized controlled trials and behavioral and neuroimaging studies. In 2003, they were a Lecturer in Psychology at Emory University.

Chantal Kerssens has a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Medical/Cognitive Psychology from Erasmus University Rotterdam, which they obtained between 1997 and 2002. Prior to that, they earned an MSc in Experimental Psychology (Psychonomie) from the University of Amsterdam between 1990 and 1996. Chantal also attended Vrije Hogeschool for one year in 1989-1990. Her education began at Han Fortmann College, where they studied Secondary school with advanced placement only (Atheneum) from 1983 to 1989.
