Jorge Lagares Garcia

IPN Director Surgical And Digestive Diseases at Roper St. Francis Healthcare

Jorge Lagares Garcia, MD, MBA, FACS, FASCRS has extensive experience in the medical field. Jorge currently serves as the IPN Director of Surgical and Digestive Diseases and Chief Division Colorectal Surgery at Roper St. Francis Healthcare, a position they have held since 2010. In 2013, Dr. Garcia became the Director of the Colorectal Robotic Epicenter.

Jorge Lagares Garcia, MD, MBA, FACS, FASCRS pursued their education in a chronological order. Jorge started by completing a Bachelor's degree in Ciencias from Instituto de Bachillerato Andres Bello in 1982. Later, they obtained a Bachillerato en Ciencias from Instituto de Bachillerato Cuarteles de Gerona in 1984. In 1986, they enrolled at Universitat de Barcelona, where they earned their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in 1992. Afterward, they underwent a General Surgery Residency Program at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital from 1994 to 2001. Following that, they pursued a Colorectal Surgery Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Florida in 2001-2002. Most recently, in 2021, they completed an Executive MBA program from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, specializing in Physician Executive MBA.
