Simon Papillon-Cavanagh began their work experience in 2009 as a Software Trainer at Les logiciels INFORMAT inc. Simon then worked as a Research Assistant at CHU Sainte-Justine from 2011 to 2012, where they analyzed and curated the non-olfactory G Protein Coupled Receptor repertoire. In 2012, they were a Research Assistant at Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal (IRCM), where they developed an R package for feature selection. From 2013 to 2013, they worked as a Research Assistant at McGill University, conducting integrative analysis of high-level genomic datasets and developing data repurposing tools. In 2014, they were a Guest Scientist at DKFZ German Cancer Research Center. Simon then worked as a Process Efficiency Consultant at Simon Papillon-Consulting Services from 2009 to 2016. In 2017, they became a Manager, Data Scientist - Think Team at Otsuka Pharmaceutical Companies (U.S.) for a short period. Simon later joined Bristol Myers Squibb in 2018 and held various roles, including Research Investigator and Principal Scientist, focusing on computational biology, translational bioinformatics, and epidemiology. Finally, they are currently working at Caris Life Sciences as a VP Data Solutions starting in 2023.

Simon Papillon-Cavanagh has a Bachelor's Degree in Bioinformatics from the Université de Montréal. Simon also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioinformatics/Human Genetics from McGill University.
