Valerie Turner BA, MEBT has a diverse work experience in various leadership roles. Valerie currently holds the position of Associate Vice President (IT) and CIO at Carleton University, starting in 2023.
From 2019 to 2023, Valerie served as the General Manager of Innovative Client Services at the City of Ottawa. In this role, they were responsible for the digital and cultural transformation of the organization, overseeing multiple departments and services.
Valerie's previous experience includes roles at MD Financial Management, where they held multiple Vice President positions. Valerie was a founding member of the incubation lab and focused on creating innovative services using emerging technologies, such as AI, blockchain, and robotics.
Valerie also has experience in the academic field, serving as a part-time Professor at the University of Ottawa from 2011 to 2014. Prior to that, they held various positions within the university, including Associate CIO and CTO and Assistant Director of Strategic Services.
Valerie's career began at the University of Ottawa in 1991, where they held roles in e-Strategy and Human Resources.
