Michael Stambaugh, CFA, is a seasoned investment professional with extensive experience in managing endowments and investments. Currently serving as the Chief Investment Officer at the Carnegie Institution for Science since March 2016, Michael Stambaugh was instrumental in establishing the Institution's first Investment Office to oversee its nearly $1.2 billion endowment. Prior to this role, Michael served as Managing Director of Investments at The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, where responsibilities included formulating investment strategies for a $1.9 billion portfolio. Michael Stambaugh also held the position of Chief Investment Officer at The American University in Cairo, where a new Investment Office was created to manage the university’s $600 million endowment. Additional experience includes roles as Assistant Treasurer and Investment Officer at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Assistant Vice President at Union Bank of California, Treasury Analyst at Sensormatic, and Credit Analyst & Officer at Barnett Bank of Central Florida. Michael Stambaugh holds an MBA in Finance from Pepperdine University and a BS in Finance from Florida State University.
