Heather Perfetti, J.D., Ed.D., is a seasoned higher education professional with extensive leadership experience. Currently serving as President of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since January 2015, Heather has held several key roles within the organization, including President-Elect, Senior Vice President for Legal Affairs and Chief of Staff, and Vice President for Legal Affairs and Chief of Staff. Prior to this, Heather was Vice President of Academic Affairs at SUNY Orange and contributed to Allegany College of Maryland as Vice President of Instructional Affairs. Heather's academic career began as an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator at Darton College, following a tenure as an Assistant Professor at Murray State University. Educational qualifications include a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Northcentral University, a Master’s in Criminal Justice from Troy University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law, and a Bachelor’s degree in English from Frostburg State University.
Middle States Commission on Higher Education
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is a voluntary, non-governmental, regional membership association currently serving higher education institutions in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and other geographic areas in which the Commission conducts accrediting activities. MSCHE assures students and the public of the educational quality of higher education. The Commission’s accreditation process ensures institutional accountability, self-appraisal, improvement, and innovation through peer review and the rigorous application of standards within the context of institutional mission.
