Amira Johnson

Amira Johnson is a dedicated educator and researcher currently working as a Tutor and Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University’s Leonard Gelfand Outreach Center, where support is provided to K-12 students, particularly in AP Biology. Amira has experience in user experience design as a Student Researcher under Professor Jason Hong and has contributed as a Teaching Assistant for the AI Scholars Pre-College Program. Additional roles include Community Advisory Board Member for Deeplocal's Gizmology program, which empowers Black high school graduates through apprenticeships in creative technology. Amira also held various internships at Argo AI, focusing on talent acquisition and software engineering, and has actively engaged in research, including work at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and studies on gentrification at Carnegie Mellon. Amira is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computational Biology with an additional major in Human-Computer Interaction.
