Laura Hool

Laura Hool is the Director of Strategic Initiatives at Carole Robertson Center for Learning. Laura has over 20 years of experience in resource development and nonprofit consulting. Laura has a passion for helping organizations achieve their missions and make a positive impact in their communities.

Prior to their current role, Laura was a Senior Manager of Donor Relations at YMCA of the USA (National Resource Office). In this role, they oversaw a portfolio of grants, monitored all project outcomes, timelines, and budgets. Laura also managed the production of annual, monthly, and ad hoc reports and developed highly personalized engagement activities to demonstrate philanthropic impact, including presentations and site visits. From June to August 2019, Laura served as acting director of the Strategic Initiatives Fund, during which time they co-created a suite of grant proposals totaling more than $26 million, all of which were approved for funding.

Before their time at YMCA of the USA, Laura worked as an independent consultant, providing support in donor relations, grant writing, prospect research, case statement development, and data management to nonprofit organizations. Her clients included the Chicago Children’s Museum, CMP, and Carole Robertson Center for Learning.

Laura holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Michigan.
