Shana A.

Shana A. currently serves as the Senior Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Carolina Theatre of Durham, a position held since August 2022. Prior to this role, Shana A. was the Community Engagement Director at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts from August 2021 to February 2022. From June 2006 to July 2021, Shana A. directed the Creative Arts in Public & Private Schools program at the Durham Arts Council, which enhances the education of over 20,000 students annually through artist-led residencies. In addition, Shana A. founded Purple Dragonfly Retreats in 2015, creating a space for personal growth and artistic renewal. Previous experience also includes a role as a Sales Force Trained/Client with Salesforce/DAC in 2014-2015, and a visitor services assistant at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in early 2005. Educational background includes a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and African American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
