Tarun Kochhar has had a long and varied career. Tarun began their career in 1990 at Hindustan Unilever Ltd, where they held various roles, including Regional Sales Manager - West, Senior Product Manager, Recruitment Manager, Factory Personnel Manager, Training Manager, Manager - Trainee Development, Personnel Manager - Sales, and Management Trainee. In 2001, they founded Carpediem and served as the Founder & CEO. In 2016, they co-founded webCHRO.

Tarun Kochhar's education history consists of four degrees. Tarun attended Campion School from 1974 to 1982, where they obtained their ICSE in Science. Tarun then attended Cathedral & John Connon School from 1982 to 1984, where they obtained their ISC in Science. Tarun attended BIT Mesra Student-Industry Relations Cell from 1984 to 1988, where they obtained their B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Lastly, they attended XLRI Jamshedpur from 1988 to 1990, where they obtained their MBA in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations.
