Umar Latif, MD, FAPA has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Umar currently works as a George W. Bush Institute Stand-To VLP Scholar at the George W. Bush Presidential Center. Prior to this, they served as the National Medical Director Help for Heroes at Springstone, Inc. Umar has also worked as a Medical Director at Carrollton Springs and as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Texas Woman's University. Additionally, Dr. Latif has been involved in various boards and organizations such as PsychArmor, Ontrak, Inc, and the IDEAS Study. Umar has also participated in the What If Ventures Fellowship Explorer program. With their expertise in adult, geriatric, and dementia psychiatry, Dr. Latif has made significant contributions to the field of mental health.

Umar Latif, MD, FAPA has an extensive education history. Umar attended Aitchison College from 1982 to 1988, where they obtained their HSC degree with a focus on biology. Later, Umar attended Allama Iqbal Medical College from 1991 to 1996 and successfully earned their MBBS degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Following this, Umar pursued their Residency Training in Psychiatry at Wayne State University from 1999 to 2003. During this time, they specialized in geriatric psychiatry, completing a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry from 2003 to 2004 at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

In addition to their academic achievements, Umar obtained several certifications to further enhance their expertise. Umar became a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and was board certified in June 2005. Umar also obtained a Subspecialty Board Certification in Geriatric Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. in May 2006. Furthermore, they pursued a certification in American Board of Preventive Medicine - Addiction Medicine from the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) in January 2018. Most recently, Umar completed the Executive Healthcare Leadership program at Cornell University in April 2021.
