Daniel W. Swear

Daniel W. Swear is an experienced legal professional currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at Upper Iowa University, teaching courses in Law, Government, and Criminal Justice. Since November 2022, Daniel has held the position of Special Counsel at Carver Darden Koretzky Tessier Finn Blossman & Areaux LLC, addressing various legal matters including commercial litigation and property disputes. Daniel also has a longstanding role as Legal Counsel for the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office, where involvement began as a Deputy Sheriff and Detective before transitioning to attorney roles focused on Professional Standards in Policing. Additionally, Daniel has directed the Diversion Program at the Plaquemines Parish District Attorney’s Office since 2019, managing programs for various offense categories. Previous experience includes serving as a Police Field Training Officer at the Gretna Police Department. Daniel holds a Doctor of Law from Loyola University New Orleans and multiple advanced degrees in public administration and law enforcement education.
