Nicole Hanks, Phd has extensive work experience in the field of analytical chemistry and research. Nicole began their career as an Undergraduate Intern at NASA in 2010, where they worked on Lewis' Educational and Research Collaborative Internship Project. Later, they became a Research and Laboratory Assistant at Mercyhurst University from 2007 to 2011.

In 2011, Nicole joined the University of Cincinnati as a Chemistry Graduate Teaching Assistant, where they mentored and tutored students in chemistry and designed curriculum materials. Nicole also completed their graduate research on water purification efficiency and nanoparticle contamination during their time at the university.

Afterward, Nicole worked as an ORISE Fellowship with the US EPA at Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education. During this time, they developed methods for arsenic speciation and analyzed trace elements in biological, food, and water samples.

In 2016, Nicole took on the role of Senior Analytical Chemist at Alene Candles, where they established and managed two ICP-MS laboratories and conducted quality control checks on raw materials and final products.

From 2017 to 2022, Nicole worked at Owens Corning, initially as an Advanced Scientist and later as a Senior Scientist. Nicole advised customers and peers on data organization, developed analysis templates on Excel, and conducted analysis using various instrumentation, including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and XRF.

Most recently, Nicole joined CAS in 2022 as an Information Scientist. Their responsibilities in this role are not yet specified.

Nicole Hanks, Ph.D., obtained their Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Mercyhurst University in 2011. Nicole then pursued further education and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati in 2015.

Additionally, Nicole has obtained various certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Nicole completed Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification from CAS in November 2022. In January 2021, they received Publication Peer Review Training from the American Chemical Society. Furthermore, they have completed several online courses, including "Fighting Gender Bias at Work," "Jodi Glickman on Pitching Yourself," "Women Transforming Tech: Building Your Brand," and "Word Quick Tips," all obtained through LinkedIn in April 2020.
