Upendra Samaratunge

Upendra Samaratunge has extensive experience in the telecommunications industry, holding various roles in well-known companies. Upendra is currently working as a Tier 1 Telco Account Director at Casa Systems, Inc. since August 2021. Prior to this, they served in Nokia Solutions and Networks Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, starting in November 2017 and holding board positions until August 2021.

Before joining Nokia Solutions and Networks Lanka, Upendra had a long tenure at Nokia Networks. Upendra held multiple positions, including Country Head / CT Sri Lanka & Maldives from January 2016 to August 2021 and President & Managing Director Sri Lanka & Maldives from October 2011 to August 2021. Upendra also served as the Director of IT and Telecom Systems Integration Global Delivery Center from April 2009 to December 2011, where they were responsible for business development and project delivery for a $250 million USD business. Prior to this, Upendra was the Director of Systems & Application Integration at Alcatel-Lucent Australia under the Services Business Group, from March 2001 to April 2009.

Upendra started their career at Motorola in August 1993, where they worked as a Software Engineer and Technical Leader until April 2001.

Upendra Samaratunge attended King's College London from 1990 to 1993, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Following that, they went on to study at the National University of Singapore from 1994 to 1997, obtaining an MSc degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Telecommunications.
