Shirley Xiao

Shirley Xiao began their work experience in 2012 as an Ecology Assistant at Fermilab. In 2014, they worked as a Laboratory Technician Intern at Navitas Systems, LLC. From 2017 to 2018, Shirley served as an Environmental Intern at SunCoke Energy. Shirley then transitioned to the Energy Resources Center, where they held various roles from 2017 to 2021, including Graduate Research Assistant and Research Engineer. In these positions, they provided outreach, conducted energy assessments, trained engineering interns, and performed application reviews for energy efficiency programs. Shirley is currently working at Cascade Energy, Inc., starting in 2021. Shirley initially served as a Senior Technical Outreach Specialist and later transitioned to the role of Technical Customer Advocate (TCA).

Shirley Xiao obtained their Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois Chicago from 2013 to 2016. Shirley then pursued a Master's degree in Energy Engineering at the same university from 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, from 2010 to 2012, Shirley attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they studied Agricultural and Biological Engineering. In addition to their academic qualifications, Shirley has also obtained certification as an Engineer In Training from the NCEES in August 2016.
