Colin Bates

Colin Bates has worked in a variety of roles since 2001. In that year they became the Owner/Proprietor of Coastal Imageworks. In 2007 they began working as a Lecturer and Guide for Quark Expeditions, and in 2008 they CoFounded Sciencefilm.org, where they served as a Science Communication Facilitator. Colin was also an Adjunct Professor of Botany at The University of British Columbia from 2009 to 2011. From 2011 to 2021, they were a Professor in the Life Sciences Division, Botany at Quest University Canada. Most recently, in 2021, they were appointed Director of Seaforestation at Ocean Wise.

Colin Bates completed their education history with a PhD in Marine Biology from The University of British Columbia between 2002 and 2007. Prior to that, they earned a M.Sc. in Biology from the University of New Brunswick between 2000 and 2002. Colin began their academic career with a B.Sc. in Biology from Simon Fraser University between 1991 and 1997.
