Martin Kampmann

Martin Kampmann an Associate Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and a Chan Zuckerberg Biohub investigator, has pioneered the development and use of genome-wide editing approaches to study proteostasis networks in health and disease with a major focus on neurodegeneration. Kampmann first joined UCSF in 2015. Today his lab develops and uses innovative technologies to understand cellular and molecular mechanisms of human disease and to discover new therapeutic strategies. He has received numerous honors for his research, including the Chan Zukerberg Initiative Ben Barres Early Career Acceleration Award in 2018 and the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award in 2015. He earned his Ph.D. in biological sciences from The Rockefeller University.
