Andrew Swartout has worked for Castalia Systems and the US Navy since 2009. At Castalia Systems, they served as a Senior System Engineer from 2015 to present, where they developed a process to automate how analysts generate Physical Vulnerability (PVCHAR) codes, identified and provided areas for improvement in the MIDB database for record creation/updating, and developed a repeatable process for interviewing Analyst SME’s in various DIA functional areas. Andrew also served as a Team Lead/Imagery & FMV Analyst, where they managed the ops floor, personnel, and company-related matters, reviewed, approved, and managed leave requests and timecards from team members.
At the US Navy, they served as a Team Lead/Imagery Analyst from 2009 to 2015, where they supervised and directed joint service members and an NGA employee in production of core target material packages, and exploited NTM images to conduct long-term research and analysis of targets in the PACOM region. Andrew also served as a Foreign Disclosure Officer/Database Management, where they transferred products between NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, and CENTRIXS as a qualified foreign disclosure officer (FDO), and maintained installation/facility records within PACOM's Imagery Product Library (IPL), MIDB and Joint Targeting Toolbox (JTT) on three classified domains. Additionally, they served as a Shift Supervisor/Imagery Analyst, where they led a team of imagery analysts in daily operations providing indications and warnings (I&W) direct support to flag-level decision makers and seven carrier or expeditionary strike groups within the Middle East region while deployed. Lastly, they served as an Imagery Analyst Student, where they received basic training regarding the intelligence process, map reading, foreign military intelligence capabilities and assets, information security, communication, and analysis of operational intelligence.
Andrew Swartout is currently enrolled in a Software Development and Security degree program at the University of Maryland Global Campus. Andrew has also obtained several certifications, including the GEOINT Professional Certification Fundamentals (GPC-F) from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in May 2018, GEOINT Target Analysis from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in October 2014, MIDB Production and Retrieval from the Joint Intelligence Training Academy Pacific in November 2013, Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) Requirements Management from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in February 2013, Fundamentals of Geographic Information Systems from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in January 2013, and Joint Targeting Collateral Damage Estimation from the Joint Targeting School, Joint Staff J7 in September 2011.
