Ernesto Rodriguez

Ernesto Rodriguez, MS, PPS, serves as a Park Ranger at Catalina Island Conservancy since May 2021, focusing on the preservation of the island's wild lands. As the Executive Director of Nature In The Classroom since July 2018, Ernesto promotes academic achievement and social-emotional learning through tree canopy ceiling murals in educational settings. As CEO of Sereneview, established in 2002, Ernesto aims to reduce patient stress in hospitals by providing nature-themed products. A seasoned commercial and fine art photographer since 1988, Ernesto's work is featured in prestigious institutions such as the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Ernesto has shared expertise on the benefits of nature in educational and healthcare settings through various speaking engagements and podcasts. Educational qualifications include an MS in Counseling and a BA in Psychology from California State University, San Diego.

The mission of the Catalina Island Conservancy is to be an exemplary steward of Island resources through a balance of conservation, education and recreation. Through its ongoing efforts, the Conservancy protects the magnificent natural and cultural heritage of Santa Catalina Island, stewarding approximately 42,000 acres of land, 50 miles of rugged shoreline, an airport, and more than 200 miles of roads. Twenty miles from the mainland, the Island is a treasure trove of historical and archeological sites, and numerous rare and endangered animals and plants.
