Michele Sedney

Michele Sedney has extensive experience in human resources, with their most recent role being the Chief Human Resource Officer/Vice President Human Resources at Catawba Valley Health System. In this position, they partnered with the President and executive team to develop strategies to advance the hospital's mission and enhance the organization's culture. Michele was responsible for all elements of the people function, including recruitment and retention, employee relations, total rewards, organizational development, and learning, as well as HR systems and operations.

Prior to their role at Catawba Valley Health System, Sedney held various positions at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Health System. At Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, they served as the Vice President Human Resources and Executive Director Human Resources, providing leadership for the overall direction and management of the Human Resources department. Michele collaborated with Central HR to create, implement, and evaluate innovative recruitment, compensation, benefits, and organizational development and training programs.

During their tenure at Johns Hopkins Health System, Sedney served as the Sr. Director, Central Recruitment Services, where they created a centralized recruitment function for the organization and its affiliates. Michele also led the configuration and implementation of an enterprise-wide career portal and applicant tracking site.

Prior to their time at Johns Hopkins, Sedney worked as the Director, Employment Services at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where they were responsible for the recruitment and placement of all allied health, professional, and support services staff. Michele also led career development and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Sedney's earlier experience includes serving as the Human Resources Manager at Ridgeway Manor Nursing Home, where they were responsible for all HR functions. Michele also worked at the University of Maryland at College Park as the Assistant Employment Manager, overseeing recruitment and hiring for all university staff positions and coordinating advertising and recruitment efforts.

Michele Sedney holds a Certificate in Labor Relations from Cornell University, which was completed in 2022. Michele'sundergraduate degree, a BS in Business Administration/Human Resources Administration, was earned from Towson University from 1983 to 1985.
