Job Summary

The Program Support Specialist provides support for Catholic Charities Food for All’s food systems. FFA coordinates the pick-up, storage, and delivery of proteins and produce from numerous local farmers to local service providers, pantries, housing programs and more.  This role plays a critical part in ensuring FFA meets timeliness and health standards related to food storage and transport, and preparation as needed.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Frequently transport locally grown fruits, vegetables, and proteins in agency vehicles to food pantries, low-income housing communities, early learning centers, and other partner sites for distribution.
  2. Receive and store products delivered by growers in refrigerated unit.
  3. Assist manager with procurement of products from local vendors.
  4. Document distribution and source of products as needed.
  5. Keep equipment clean, maintained, and in proper working order.
  6. Transport gleaned, purchased, or donated products to refrigerated unit for proper storage.
  7. Glean farmers markets as needed and complete documentation.
  8. Per food safety guidelines, prepare and make accessible produce samples with relevant information to clients at partners sites, including pantries and low-income housing communities.
  9. Per food safety guidelines prepare and serve meals at housing communities.
  10. Research or create recipes for meals and sampling.
  11. Research or create recipes for printing and distribution to partner sites.
  12. Sustain and build relationships with current community partners.
  13. Identify new community partners and assist the Manager with cultivation of relationships.
  14. Notify the Manager of any concerns communicated by partners or their patrons.
  15. Photograph activities and provide data and anecdotes for the Manager to submit for social media and reports.
  16. Support greenhouse activities, such as planting seeds, transplanting, watering, and delivering plants to partner sites.
  17. Provide garden education at housing communities and shelters.
  18. Assist with survey collection as needed.
  19. Complete all relevant training.
  20. Report regularly to Program Manager.
  21. Uses appropriate administrative, fiscal, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of CCEW client protected health information (PHI), per regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  22. Will regularly utilize all forms of communication (email, text, phone, etc.) and database practices necessary for this position and as directed by supervisor.
  23. As a mandated reporter, follow all procedures outlined in agency policies and procedures to report to the proper agency when there is suspicion and/or confirmation that a child or adult has been a victim of abuse or neglect.

  25. Perform as a team member to assure that productivity outcome measures are achieved.

Job Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below.  These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job. 

Education/Experience:  to perform this job successfully, an individual must have a Bachelor of Arts degree or comparable experience. Experience working with diverse populations preferred.

Certificates/Licenses: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a valid Driver’s License.  Successfully pass background check applicable to position. Must obtain food handler’s card after hire.

Physical Abilities:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

  • Regularly stand, walk, sit, hear/listen, talk

  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds, pull/push, carry, grasp, reach, stoop, kneel

Workplace Environmental Conditions

While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee will be:

  • Noise Conditions: exposed during a shift to constant or intermittent sounds at moderate to loud levels of sound dependent upon the activities of the Shelter.
  • Exposure to Trauma: Employees of Catholic Charities Eastern Washington provide direct services to vulnerable community members including those who have behavioral health challenges and those who have been exposed to trauma.
