Neil Robertson has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Neil is currently the Chief Scientific Officer at Element Human since December 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Honorary Professor and Professor at Queen's University Belfast, where they were also the Director of Research for Image and Vision Systems and Director of the Centre for Data Sciences and Scalable Computing. Neil co-led the Global Innovation Institute during their time at the university.
Neil Robertson also has experience as a Company Director and Chief Scientific Officer at CattleEye and as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Zenith Ai, where they focused on developing applied AI solutions for genomics, cell engineering, and drug discovery. Neil co-founded AnyVision and served as the CTO until March 2020.
Earlier in their career, Neil Robertson worked as an Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University, where they specialized in Vision, Image, and Signal Processing. Neil also worked as a Senior Scientific Officer at QinetiQ and as a Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Industrial Fellow at Oxford University, conducting computer vision research.

Neil Robertson attended Greenock Academy from 1991 to 1996. From 1996 to 2000, they studied at the University of Glasgow, earning a MSci degree in Physics. Neil then went on to pursue a DPhil in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford from 2001 to 2006.
