Pierre Haren

Co-Founder and CEO at Causality Link

Pierre Haren has had an extensive and diverse work experience. Pierre started their career in 1980 as the Chief of the Research Mission at the Ministère de la Mer, where they worked until 1983. Following that, they joined INRIA Sophia-Antipolis and served as a Project Manager for the SMECI project, which involved creating design expert systems in collaboration with various organizations. In 1987, Pierre Haren joined ILOG as the Chairman and CEO, overseeing the growth and success of the company's product lines in business rules, optimization, and visualization, leading to its acquisition by IBM in 2008. At IBM, they held multiple roles, including Vice President of ILOG and Worldwide Leader of Advanced Analytics, before leaving in 2016 to co-found Causality Link. As the CEO and Co-Founder of Causality Link, Pierre focuses on building an AI-powered Research Assistant that generates models of the forces impacting financial markets globally. Additionally, they have also acted as an investor at SLC Angels from 2011 to 2013.

Pierre Haren earned their Ph.D. in Wave Energy Extraction from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, between 1977 and 1980. Prior to that, they completed their Ingénieur degree at École nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in 1977, and their Ingenieur degree at École Polytechnique between 1973 and 1976.
