Kate Hutson has extensive work experience in the scientific and academic fields. Kate is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Cawthron Institute since February 2019. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Lecturer at James Cook University from February 2010 to February 2019. Before joining James Cook University, Kate worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Adelaide from 2007 to 2009.
Kate Hutson received their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Zoology from the University of Melbourne from 1997 to 2001. Kate then pursued an Honours degree in Marine Parasitology at the same university from 2000 to 2001. Kate went on to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Marine Parasitology from The University of Adelaide, Adelaide, South Australia, completing their studies from 2003 to 2007.
