Senior Data Scientist Lead

cBEYONData is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to lead the development of a unified data reference architecture for a customer embarking on a significant modernization initiative. This critical role involves creating a comprehensive framework that includes a reference model, reference architectures, and reference implementations. The successful candidate will define and implement a data mesh and/or data fabric that will serve as the backbone for data management strategies, supporting enhanced data integration, accessibility, and analytics across the enterprise.

Responsibilities:

• Reference Architecture Development: Design and develop a unified data reference architecture that aligns with organizational goals and facilitates efficient data operations across various business units.
• Data Modeling and Design: Construct data models that support long-term viability and scalability of the data architecture. Ensure models accommodate diverse data types and large volumes of data.
• Implementation of Data Mesh/Data Fabric: Define and implement data mesh or data fabric architectures to ensure decentralized data management and improved data accessibility and quality across the enterprise.
• Collaboration and Leadership: Work closely with IT teams, business stakeholders, and external partners to gather requirements and align architecture development with business needs. Lead cross-functional teams in the implementation of data architecture projects.
• Technology Evaluation and Adoption: Evaluate emerging technologies and tools that can enhance the data architecture framework. Advocate for the adoption of technologies that improve data processing, storage, and security.
• Standards and Compliance: Establish data architecture standards, practices, and policies to ensure compliance with data governance and security regulations. Ensure that data management practices are compliant with relevant standards.
• Performance Monitoring: Develop metrics and monitoring strategies to assess the performance of the data architecture. Use insights from data to make informed decisions on architecture improvements.

Requirements:

• Top Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• At least 7 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or a similar role, with significant leadership responsibilities
• Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale data architectures, including data meshes and data fabrics
• Strong understanding of modern data management concepts and technologies, including big data platforms, cloud services, and ETL tools
• Expertise in data security and compliance regulations
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of leading diverse teams and projects
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment

Desired Skills:

• Prior experience at Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA)
• Experience with ERP systems or similar integrated technology solutions is a plus.
