Kris Kuhns

Money follows mission and fundraising is an essential part of elevating mission for all nonprofits. With over ten years of experience in strategic fundraising, Kris is experienced working with staff and volunteers to support impactful missions. Kris thrives in volunteer engagement, partnership development, data-driven fundraising, and creating successful strategies to achieve stated objectives. Her analytical and organizational skills, coupled with her personability and passion for philanthropy, make her a favorite among staff and volunteers of her client partners.

Kris has successfully led campaigns over goal for various Case priorities including new construction, historic preservation, renovations, programs, endowments, debt reduction, and annual fundraising. Combined with previous experiences, Kris has raised over $100,000,000 throughout her career. She has a track record of recruiting, managing, and deploying resources for over 250 volunteer leaders. Kris has also worked with clients to develop and implement successful annual fundraising programs, leading one client to a 32% year-over-year increase in annual fundraising in a single year. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Kris pioneered strategies and materials to support staff and volunteer leaders in conducting successful virtual gift requests.

Kris is engaged in CCS’s work with the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes (CEEP) where she has supported the firm in numerous presentations and webinars. She has also written and published case studies on the CCS blog. Kris has established and currently leads the Mid- and South-Atlantic Region’s Data Analytics Center and advises colleagues, executives, and clients on how to implement analytics results.

Prior to joining CCS, Kris participated in a consultancy partnership working with an array of nonprofit clients on strategic major gifts fundraising and partnership development across the full continuum of donors. In this position, Kris was responsible for working with a team to facilitate high-level public-private-partnerships which lead to significant grants and public health interventions. Partnerships included impactful work on innovative health technologies, forging partnerships between multilateral and bilateral funders to influence health policies, and monitoring and evaluation programs focused on health behavior change.

Born in Maryland, Kris has enjoyed moving around the country with her military family. She enjoys hiking, running, and practicing yoga. Kris serves on the Board of Trustees for the Union Meeting Hall (Ferrisburgh, VT). She is a dedicated community volunteer and has raised funds and served as a volunteer leader for Bearhug Cattle Company, BeadforLife, and Children’s Miracle Network.
