Sean Courtney

Sean Courtney, PhD, is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in laboratory preparedness, regulatory affairs, and microbiology. Currently serving as the Clinical Laboratory Engagement Team Lead and Laboratory Preparedness and Response Specialist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since February 2019, Sean has also contributed as a Regulatory Affairs Specialist within the same agency. Prior to this role, Sean held positions at IHRC, Inc., Booz Allen Hamilton, and USDA-ARS, focusing on regulatory support, scientific consulting, and microbiological research. Sean's academic background includes a PhD in Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry from Georgia State University and a BS in Marine Science from the University of South Carolina, highlighting a strong foundation in molecular virology and marine sciences.
