Jean-Marcel Travere

Senior Research Scientist at CEA

Jean-Marcel Travère is a Senior Research Scientist at CEA since January 1988, with extensive expertise in instrumentation and imaging for fusion technologies. As a Scientific and Technical Adviser for the THERMADIAG startup, Jean-Marcel contributes to the development of the "ThermaVIP" software platform, enhancing operational safety and quality control in high-temperature processes. Notably, Jean-Marcel serves as the Responsible Officer for the Wall Monitoring System in the WEST project and oversees the R&D work-programme for the ITER equatorial VIS/IR imaging system. Previously, Jean-Marcel led the Imaging and Diagnostic Lab at CEA, focusing on the infrared imaging systems for fusion projects. Early career experience includes leading the Instrumentation and Computer Science group at the CYCERON PET Centre and serving as an R&D Scientist at IMSTAR. Jean-Marcel holds a Ph.D. in general instrumentation from ENSICAEN and degrees in nuclear physics and engineering from the same institution.
