Sarah began their career as an Assistant Team Leader and Editor at The Oregonian/OregonLive.com, where they managed a suburban news bureau and worked on major news stories. Sarah then transitioned into the accounting field, starting as an Accounting Manager at Patrick Lumber Co., where they managed daily cash positions and prepared financial statements.

Sarah then worked as a Banking Compliance/Reporting Accountant at Erickson Air-Crane, Inc., managing cash flows and developing cash forecasting tools.
