Hank (Henrik K) Kulmala, Ph.D. began their work experience in 1975, serving in the US Army as a Major and fulfilling various roles including infantry commander, staff officer, and trainer until 1994. In 1993, they became the Director of Regulatory Affairs at Curatek Pharmaceuticals.

In 2000, Kulmala worked as a Consultant at SuperGen, where they focused on clinical regulatory documents and submissions for oncology products. Hank (Henrik K) also worked as a Consultant at Athersys in 2007.

From 2002 to 2020, Kulmala served as the Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs (Acting) at Genix Therapeutics. During this time, they were actively involved in regulatory affairs.

Kulmala also worked as a Consultant medical writer at Abbott/Ibis Biosciences in 2011, and as a Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance at Quark Biotech Inc from January to September 2004.

In 2008, Kulmala started volunteering as part of the Medical Reserve Corps at the Lake County Health Department, where they became a trained disaster response manager.

Since September 2016, Kulmala has served as the Executive Vice President of Product Development and Regulatory Affairs at Cellastra, Inc. Their role involves leading the development of a gene therapy for wound healing and addressing respiratory system issues caused by viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 and RSV.

Throughout their career, Kulmala has emphasized the importance of creating quality end products and utilizing their writing skills.

Hank (Henrik K) Kulmala, Ph.D. has a diverse education history. Hank (Henrik K) began their academic journey at Northern Illinois University from 1971 to 1975, where they earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. Hank then pursued advanced studies at the University of Chicago from 1976 to 1981, where they successfully obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmacological & Physiological Sciences.

Continuing their thirst for knowledge, Hank enrolled in the Command & General Staff Officer Course from 1984 to 1988, to enhance their skills in the US Army. This specialized graduate program further bolstered their expertise in military tactics and strategies.

More recently, between 2010 and 2018, Hank pursued individual coursework exceeding basic requirements at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Hank (Henrik K) notably focused on Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management, equipping himself with the necessary skills to handle emergency situations effectively.
