Christopher O'Brien

Christopher O'Brien has a diverse work experience in the field of manufacturing and research. Christopher currently works at Celldex Therapeutics as a Manufacturing Engineer, where they serve as the technical lead for upstream and downstream manufacturing processes. Christopher also supports the development and optimization of new process technologies and assists in the scale-up and tech transfer from product development to manufacturing.

Prior to this, Christopher worked at Amgen as a Manufacturing Manager, overseeing the cell culture, equipment prep, and solution prep areas in a 24-hour next-gen, single-use facility. Christopher was responsible for resolving problems and making real-time decisions during operations and elevating critical events to senior management.

Before their role at Amgen, Christopher worked at Moderna as a Senior Manufacturing Associate, leading manufacturing operations on the production floor. Christopher ensured production schedule adherence, collaborated with various departments, and conducted daily tier 1 meetings.

Earlier in their career, Christopher also gained experience at Amgen as a Senior Manufacturing Associate, where they led manufacturing operations, acted as a point-of-contact in the manager's absence, and was involved in writing and revising controlled documents. Christopher also worked as a Manufacturing Associate, performing GMP processes and troubleshooting purification operations.

Christopher's earlier experiences include working as a Research Assistant II at the University of Rhode Island, contributing to a long-term genetic research project on the Eastern Oyster Crassostrea virginica. Christopher also worked as a Process Chemist I at Nitto Denko Avecia and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography.

Christopher O'Brien attended the University of Rhode Island from 2010 to 2014, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biology. In addition to their formal education, they also earned a certification as a Six Sigma Yellow Belt from Amgen in January 2019.
