Tom Spencer

Tom Spencer has worked in the biotechnology industry since 1998. Tom began their career at Covance/Diosyth Biotechnology as a Manager and then moved to Biogen Idec as a Scientist II in 2001. In 2006, they joined Tengion as a Senior Director and then moved to RegenMed Therapeutics LLC in 2015 as a Senior Director. In 2016, they became the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations at Twin City Bio LLC and then joined Novartis in 2017 as the Global Head of Process Sciences Cell & Gene Therapy. In 2019, they moved to Ziopharm Oncology as the SVP of Tech Ops Cell Therapy and is currently the Chief Technical Officer at Cellevolve.

Tom Spencer attended Virginia Tech from 1985 to 1996, where they earned both a Bachelor's and a PhD in Biochemistry.
