Job Overview:

As an equipment specialist, you will be tasked with supporting CelLink’s fleet of automated production equipment. This will involve rapid, efficient responses to real-time issues as well as the careful development of long-term solutions in collaboration with our maintenance and operations staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, modify, and assemble mechanical and electrical components and assemblies.
  • Assembly, testing, and installation of custom manufacturing tools and equipment
    • Precise, detail-oriented mechanical assembly according to engineering drawings
    • Electrical component and cabinet wiring according to engineering drawings
  • Create and modify mechanical CAD models and drawings.
  • Perform machining and welding work as needed.
  • Systematically apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software components to identify problems and develop robust solutions.
  • Work closely with equipment engineers, process engineers, and production operators to ensure production equipment operates reliably and efficiently.
  • Assist in the construction of new equipment and the development of improvements to existing equipment.
  • Work hands-on with roll-to-roll web handling and processing equipment, including rollers, drives, edge guides, brakes, and steering mechanisms.

Experience/Education:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology or similar is preferred.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience as a machinist, welder, mechanic, equipment engineer, or similar experience is desired.
  • Experience with design, assembly and/or maintenance of automated manufacturing equipment strongly preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Independent problem solver with a desire to learn new skills and develop new technology.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Able to adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced start-up setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Solid background in using 3D computer aided design software (SolidWorks strongly preferred).
  • Can read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Able to create and modify mechanical drawings, models and assemblies.
  • Can create and modify technical documents such as work instructions.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Able to use hand and machine tools safely.

A qualified candidate will have a subset of these skills:

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Familiar with materials and construction methods typical of manufacturing equipment.
  • Some knowledge of PLC systems and device configuration software.
  • Familiar with statistical process control concepts.
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics
  • Experience with electrical cabinet wiring
  • Experience with assembly and/or maintenance of roll-to-roll manufacturing equipment.
