Maria Abreu-Blanco

Senior Scientist at Cellphire Therapeutics

Maria Abreu-Blanco has worked in the scientific field since 2001. Maria began their career as a Research Assistant I at the Molecular Genetics Laboratory at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. In 2006, they became a Research Technician II at the same university, where they designed and implemented a protocol to purify DNA from tissues and optimized and adapted protocols to answer specific research questions. Maria also managed inventories of biological samples and consumable supplies. That same year, they began working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where they were responsible for planning, coordinating and executing a project aimed at analyzing the molecular components and signals involved in single cell wound repair in Drosophila and developed and optimized an in vivo wound repair assay. In 2014, Maria began working at Leidos Biomedical Research as a Scientist I and was promoted to Scientist II. Finally, in 2022, they were hired as a Senior Scientist at Cellphire Therapeutics, Inc.

Maria Abreu-Blanco received their PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2006. Maria obtained their Bachelor's degree in Cellular and Molcular Biology from the same university in 2001.
