Marianne Ellis has extensive work experience in the field of biochemical engineering and tissue engineering. Marianne currently holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at Cellular Agriculture Ltd since 2022. Prior to this role, they were a Professor of BioProcess & Tissue Engineering at the University of Bath starting from February 2021. Marianne has also served as the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and as an Associate Dean (Learning & Teaching) during their time at the university. Marianne has held various lecturer and research positions at the University of Bath, where they conducted research on mesenchymal cell plasticity and tissue regeneration. In addition, they worked as a Senior Research Fellow at The Royal Academy of Engineering/The Leverhulme Trust, focusing on developing a technology to grow regulatory T-cells for transplant patients. Marianne is also a founding director and Chief Technology Officer at Cellesce Ltd.
Marianne Ellis obtained a PhD in Biochemical Engineering from the University of Bath, where they studied from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Chemical and BioProcess Engineering at the same institution from 1997 to 2001.
