Mark Gates

Mark Gates is the current Employee Benefits Director at Cengage. Prior to this, they were the US Benefits Leader at Worldpay from March 2016 to June 2020. Mark has also held the positions of Senior Director, Benefits & Compensation at Axcess Financial, Senior Director, Benefits at Omnicare Inc., and Director, Benefits & Compensation at Staffmark. Mark Gates has been working in the field of benefits and compensation for over 20 years, starting at Anthem in 1985 as a Compensation Manager. In 2001, they became the Manager of Benefits & Compensation at Penn National Gaming, where they worked for six years before moving on to Staffmark.

Mark Gates has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business. Mark also has a certification from Michigan State University in Certified Workers Compensation Professional, and two certifications from WorldatWork in Certified Benefits Professional and Certified Compensation Professional.

Mark Gates reports to Jeri Herman, Senior Vice President of Human Resources. They are on a team with Alexander Broich - President, Cengage Global Businesses & General Manager for English Language Teaching, Amy Grothaus Turner, SPHR - Sr. Director, Human Resources Operations, and Andy Trus - Director of Product, Platform Learning Experiences.
