Tobias Bernard Switzer

Tobias Bernard Switzer is a seasoned policy researcher and military expert with extensive experience in national security and irregular warfare. Currently serving as a Senior Policy Researcher at RAND and an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security, Tobias has also held the position of Editorial Director/Editor-in-Chief at the Irregular Warfare Initiative, where a team of 20 volunteer editors was recruited to enhance scholarship in this field. A former Colonel in the United States Air Force, Tobias has deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Central America, taking on roles in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism efforts. Additional leadership roles include serving on the Board of Directors for the Olmsted Scholar Foundation and as a Military Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the National Defense University. Tobias holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a specialization in Economics from the University of Chicago and a Master's in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
